Our progressive community-based Credit Union now has an exciting opportunity to join the team as Mortgage & Senior Lending Officer.
The Mortgage & Senior Lending Officer will work as part of the lending team and will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of Mortgage customers along with supporting the lending function as a senior officer. Responsibilities include the on-going management of applications throughout the lending cycle from an initial enquiry through to completion of any facility provided. The successful candidate must have knowledge of the Irish Mortgage market, proven track record of carrying out detailed assessments of Mortgage and secured loan proposals, preparation of loan reports, delivering high service standards and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the CEO and be a key member of the lending team and deputise for the Team Lead in their absence.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Build and maintain relationships with members requiring Mortgage funding & secured loan facilities. Carry out detailed assessment of loan applications, assist borrowers to structure loan proposals, prepare clear and concise loan reports and make recommendations to the appropriate sanctioning committees.
- Support other team members and provide advice and guidance on loan applications.
- Assess applications for personal, self-employed, including analysis of financial accounts and business plans.
- Participate in annual reviews of all Lending, Mortgage facilities and Credit policies and procedures.
- Assist with the growth of the loan book in line with the Strategic Plan and operational business goals including development of new types of credit (including SME and Community lending).
- Assist the Lending Team Lead to ensure accurate and timely updates to the Management Team and The Board of Directors on the progress and performance of the total loan port-folio.
- Ensure a high standard of compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures.
- Ensure all documentation relating to the provision of facilities is completed and recorded on the appropriate IT system and available for audit purposes.
- Ensure required cooperation with internal and external Credit Union stakeholders.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a financial institution.
- Strong business acumen with ability to interpret financial statements and key drivers of results.
- Proven record in managing credit quality and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring junior members of a team.
- Have a proven track record in delivering results to achieve personal work goals and objectives.
- Strong member focus and a proven commitment to service excellence.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise and manage work load.
- Strong negotiation skills with ability to identify key risk issues in negotiation of borrowing facilities and to deliver alternative solutions if required.
- An ability to work on own initiative and interact as a part of a highly motivated team.
- Well-developed networking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
- Exemplary governance and ethics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Qualifications:
Full QFA/APA is essential. If not already qualified working towards becoming QFA approved and have full APA Loans & Regulation certification.
