The Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), came into force on 14th September 2019.

This regulation affects the whole banking industry, and changes the way you operate banking facilities, including CU Online+.

PSD2 is designed to further protect you when banking online. Increased security measures (known as Strong Customer Authentication) are placed on several online account activities such as setting up new payees, certain payments, etc. You may be familiar with this from other sites, as it will be similar to “Two Factor Authentication”, where a One Time Passcode (OTP) is sent to your mobile device to complete an action.

To ensure you receive these OTPs, check that your mobile number on file is up to date. You can do this in the “Personal Details” section of your CU Online+ account.

  • SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption – provides protection of your personal data using Industry wide strong level of encryption.
  • Secure sign-in – Three tiered login – for additional levels of access and security.
  • OTP (One Time Passcode) and Password – as per industry best practice guidelines (upgrade from 8 digit PIN).
  • Firewall protection – to stop unauthorised access and protect the information on your systems.
  • Time-out facility – which automatically signs you out after a period of inactivity (to continue banking online, simply sign in again).
  • Secure Messaging – all account specific member communication is sent through a secure channel in cuOnline+.

The log in process for CUOnline+ (via our website) and Letterkenny CU app use the same security details.

What You Need  - Members must retain the following 3 items:

  • Username
    Created by member at Registration
    Can only consist of letters and numbers
  • Password
    Created by member at Registration
    Minimum 8 characters in length
  • PIN
    Issued by SMS once Registration is approved
    Minimum 8 numbers in length
