A personal overdraft gives you a credit facility on your Current Account for temporary or occasional use.

An overdraft is a short-term way to borrow money on your current account and can help in months where things get a little tight. Once your overdraft is sanctioned, the money is available to you through your Current Account.

  • You can apply for an overdraft on your Current Account (up to 75% of your monthly salary) from €200 up to a maximum of €5,000
  • Your salary must be mandated to your current account.
  • The interest rate is 12% per annum variable. Interest is only charged on overdrawn balances. Letterkenny Credit Union does not currently apply surcharge interest.
  • An overdraft fee of €25 is charged on approval and on each anniversary of the overdraft approval date.

Credit facilities are subject to repayment capacity and financial status and are not available to persons under 18 years of age. Apply for an Overdraft online or at our credit union office.

Overdrafts are normally sanctioned for a period of 12 months. If you use your account within the overdraft limit, we agree with you, then we may automatically renew it when the term comes to an end.
