Once you have opened your new Current Account, you can now lodge money into the account. You’ll find the new IBAN and BIC details for your Current Account on your online banking. These details will allow you to transfer funds electronically directly into your Current Account.

You should ensure that your old Current Account has enough funds to meet any bills, fees or charges that may be due before you’ve had a chance to switch to your new Current Account.

To receive your salary into your new Current Account, you must provide your employer with your new IBAN and BIC details.

It is also important to ensure that any other regular payments you receive (e.g. child benefit, pensions or share dividends) are supplied with your new details.

If your employer or another organisation requires written confirmation of your new account details, you can complete and send them a Credit Transfer Request Form (form found below article).

Review your recent statements from your old Current Account to identify all outgoing payments, (e.g. rent, utility bills, mortgage repayments, etc.) Note the dates that these payments are due to come out of your account. Transfer these outgoing payments to your new Current Account.

Contact any companies you pay by Direct Debit to update your account details.

Update any subscriptions or other automatic debit payments you may have (e.g. Netflix, Spotify) or accounts you may have added your card details to (e.g. ASOS), with your new Mastercard® debit card details.

When your incoming and outgoing payments are updated and in order, transfer any remaining balance to your new account.

You can now inform your provider that you want to close your account.
